Self-Love is the best Love

With Valentine's Day just around the corner, it's important (especially for us singles) to give ourselves extra love. I've been told you can't love others, if you don't know how to love yourself. So here are my personal Top 10 ways I give myself love, from the simplest of things to the splendor of spoiling myself once in awhile.

  1. Make your living space your definition of "Cozy" - A cute quilt, bunch of blankets, cozy pajamas & loungewear, calming smells from an oil diffuser or candle, hot cup of tea... yep that's my perfect description of cozy.

  2. Tell yourself "You look Beautiful" - whether it's in your head, out loud, written on a mirror or post it where you can see it everyday. Believe in those three words, because they are very true.

  3. Buy yourself Flowers - nothing brightens up your apartment or house like sunshine shining on a fresh bouquet.

  4. Write in a Personal Journal - Before I created my teen and adult versions of my blogs, this is where I jolted down all of my thoughts, feelings, and ideas.

  5. Get your Beauty Sleep - As a college girl this is easier said than done. On a good night I usually get between six-seven hours max. I love being a night owl whether it's to start a new blog post, watch videos or finish a homework assignment.

  6. Drink plenty of Water - I did not know until a few months ago we are "supposed"to intake a gallon of water a day. Of course I had to be one of those people who buys the big jug that has the cute little times that you should drink them on the side of it. I haven't tested that amount out yet but I do feel a difference when I drink a little verses a good amount of water.

  7. Hug someone - Please do this safely with someone that has been quarantining as much as you have or has lived with you over the last year. After this year especially, we all need hugs.

  8. Get out into Nature - Whether it's sitting out on your patio (which I am doing while writing this post), going to the beach, or taking a hike, nature is one of the world's most beautiful gifts and is just so peaceful to be sitting in silence listening to it.

  9. Ultimate At-Home Spa Night - Sadly, I currently don't have a tub in my apartment (its on my list of future apartment/home must haves) but luckily I have found alternatives to making my shower just as relaxing. First, I put a a shower steamer where the water just hits it. Next, I use all my Lush faves from head to toe. Shampoo and condition with my new scalp massager, this then regular soap and scrub, and finish the shower with a face cleanser that I know is safe for my skin. After the shower, I moisturize, use my massage bar and then put on a face, hand and foot mask, and after I enjoy those, that pretty much finishes a good and successful spa night.

  10. Trip to the Salon or Spa - One of my favorite treats is giving my fingers and toes some love with a manicure & pedicure at least once a month. Also, nothing feels better than having a nice new fresh cut hairstyle, which I usually get done every other month if I really push it.

I hope everyone is having a great February so far. With still being in the midst of a scary pandemic that's taken over the world for almost a year now, it's important to remember to treat yourself once in awhile.

Xoxo
